Focus had Robert Woodard on top of game

In chess, Robert Woodard learned to analyze possibilities for the next 20 to 25 moves, taking into account all the variables of the complex game. He did that well enough to become the state champion in his age group as a sixth grader. As a pitcher, he also faces an array of variables. The defense is positioned a certain way. Maybe there is a short porch in right field. Is there dew on the grass? Is there wind? Which pitch is the batter expecting? His chess experience helps Woodard manage these factors.
