It wasn’t even subtle. In the run-up to the 1984 NBA draft, it looked all but certain that Philadelphia would wind up with one of the Top 2 picks, and in all likelihood that would have meant Michael Jordan would have conducted his dazzling career as a Sixer, not as a member of the Bulls.
