Andrew Carignan: ‘I’ve got a new arm. Let’s see how it goes’

Two years ago in early June, Andrew Carignan pitched in relief for the Oakland Athletics. He knew something was wrong with his right elbow after delivering a 2-2 fastball to Nelson Cruz of the Texas Rangers. Carignan needed Tommy John surgery, a ligament-reconstruction procedure. “I finally felt like I had gotten to where I needed to be,” said Carignan, 27. “And then it just got taken away from me.” (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
