Chicago Bears release Julius Peppers in salary cap move

Defensive end Julius Peppers became a Chicago Bears salary cap casualty on Tuesday. The Bears terminated Peppers' contract, a move that saves them $9.8 million against the 2014 cap, provided they do not designate him a post-June 1 cut, which was unlikely. He is scheduled to count approximately $8.4 million in dead money against the Bears' salary cap in 2014. (Chicago Tribune)
