Dean Smith to be honored with Medal of Freedom Wednesday

After his team suffered a shocking loss Sunday in its home arena, the Dean E. Smith Center, North Carolina coach Roy Williams was told what Smith would have said about the outcome: “It was a good basketball game.” “He didn’t care who won or lost,” Williams responded. “He used to say, ‘As long as we play well.’ I used to say, ‘I’m not as good a person as you are. I want to win.’” Smith certainly won.
