In his annual state of the conference address, Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive touted the league's accomplishments — starting, as always, with those seven consecutive BCS national championships — and in the next 20 minutes Tuesday, he quoted Albert Einstein and James Baldwin, alluded to Teddy Roosevelt and referred to Johann Gutenberg. But what he didn't quite say might have been as important.
