NCAA places Oregon football on three years probation, no bowl ban

Chip Kelly can't coach in college again until Christmas Day 2014 – but considering what was possible, his former school unwrapped a nice gift Thursday. The NCAA's Committee on Infractions, in a ruling announced Wednesday morning, penalized Oregon for major rule violations in recruiting, stripping one scholarship for two seasons. Significantly, the Committee did not impose a bowl ban. (USA Today)
