Tar Heels’ Thornton keeps his cool

Trent Thornton of North Carolina awoke Tuesday morning with a swarm of butterflies in his stomach. Thornton settled down once he reached the stadium and tried to treat the game like any other, and the strategy worked. He pitched into the eighth inning and left with a lead that Chris McCue preserved, and UNC won 4-2 to keep its season alive. (Winston-Salem Journal)
