UNC panel kicks off with frank discussion of challenges facing college athletics

The panel convened by outgoing UNC-Chapel Hill chancellor Holden Thorp to study the role of big-time college athletics in the life of UNC -- and elsewhere -- convened for the first time Friday, with a preliminary get-together for the panel’s five members followed by a two-hour public forum.
