When North Carolina traveled to the emotionally-charged atmosphere of East Carolina’s Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, gut-wrenching shifts in momentum and highlight-reel plays were plentiful. In the end it was East Carolina who provided the final blow when East Carolina kicker Ben Hartman, who missed three field goals earlier in Saturday night’s contest, nailed a 39-yarder as time expired to give the Pirates a 34-31 victory.
