Hot-shooting Hairston lead UNC to victory

North Carolina hit Virginia with a barrage of 3-point baskets on Saturday, sparked by P.J. Hairston out of a rebuilt lineup, and rolled to a 93-81 decision at the Smith Center to snap a two-game losing streak. Hairston, a sophomore, scored a career-high 29 points and helped the Tar Heels pull out of a 40-40 tie at halftime in front of 20,616. (Winston-Salem Journal)
