Basketball Recruiting Update: UNC coaches at City of Palms, Chick-fil-A Classic

Roy Williams and assistant C.B. McGrath hit the recruiting trail Thursday covering two of the top high school basketball events of the holiday season.

Williams set up shop at the Chick-fil-A Classic in Columbia, South Carolina watching 2013 UNC power forward commit Isaiah Hicks, 2015 center Daniel Giddens, 2014 combo forward Isaac Copeland, and 2014 shooting guard Theo Pinson.

C.B. McGrath, meanwhile, was in Orlando, Florida scouting the City of Palms Classic which features 2013 small forward and consensus #1 prospect Andrew Wiggins, 2015 small forward Montaque Gill-Caesar, 2014 center Jahlil Okafor, 2014 small forward Justin Jackson and and 2014 shooting guard D'Angelo Russell.

Wiggins had a huge first game, scoring 31 points and grabbing 8 rebounds leading Huntington Prep to a 77-50 win over Justin Jackson's Houston HCYA team (box score).

2014 point guard Joel Berry's Lake Highland team, playing without Berry due to a knee injury, lost their first two games of the event. Berry, although cleared to play by doctors on Wednesday, did not participate in either game.
