Andy Griffith’s ties to Chapel Hill, UNC remembered

Griffith, who died Tuesday at age 86, had many connections to UNC and Chapel Hill. His dramatic and musical career began in Chapel Hill. During his days as a student at UNC, Griffith played Sir Walter Raleigh in the outdoor drama “The Lost Colony,” and in the student drama group PlayMakers’ production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Mikado.” (Durham Herald-Sun)
