Walk-off homer leaves Tar Heels in a hole

Sunday, June 03, 2012

All it took was one pitch from closer Michael Morin for UNC to change from an NCAA Tournament juggernaut at home into a team that must win three games in 30 hours to save its season. No. 8 hitter Danny Bethea hit a three-run homer with one out in the ninth inning, giving St. John’s a 5-4 win over the Tar Heels in the winner’s bracket of the Chapel Hill Regional at Boshamer Field.
