No 6 national seed North Carolina weathered a 71-minute lightning delay and a pesky Cornell squad to secure its 16th-consecutive home regional victory by a 7-4 score on Friday. North Carolina will face No. 3 seed St. John’s in the pivotal winners’ bracket game at 6pm on Saturday. The Red Storm dismantled No. 2 seed East Carolina, 11-3, earlier on Friday. (Inside Carolina)
