Tar Heels Tie Elon, 1-1


North Carolina needed a late goal from junior midfielder Garry Lewis to register a 1-1 tie with Elon Tuesday at Rhodes Stadium. With the draw, the Tar Heels (4-3-5) matched their school record of five ties set in 1979 in just 12 games. The Phoenix (6-3-4) has recorded ties against all three Atlantic Coast Conference opponents it has faced - Carolina, No. 1 Wake Forest and Clemson. (Tar Heel Blue)
