UNC, Duke, N.C. State, in that order, picked atop the league

The Tar Heels received all 64 first-place votes, while the Blue Devils edged out the Wolfpack for second place. The accolades for area schools didn't stop with the standings. UNC junior Tyler Hansbrough was the runaway pick as preseason player of the year, with all but the four votes cast for Virginia guard Sean Singletary going to Hansbrough.
