Birth of ACC hoops, Part I

The man most responsible for the league’s early success was Everett Case, coach at N.C. State. He had been highly successful in Indiana high school basketball, far and away the nation’s best, and he brought some top players with him to Raleigh. soon followed on the scene at UNC. He was a legendary high school coach as well who made his mark in New York City. Later, he became coach at St. John’s University, also in the “Big Apple.” (Morganton News Herald)
