Kentwan Balmer hopes to do more than fill a gap

Kentwan Balmer, 24, was signed by the Carolina Panthers to support a defensive tackle group that has struggled in the past two preseason games, particularly against Miami last week when rookies Sione Fua and Terrell McClain appeared overmatched at times. At 6-feet-5 and 315 pounds, Balmer offers a big body where one is needed. (Charlotte Observer)
