Pitcher Spencer Trayner commits to North Carolina
Posted Jul 11, 2011
Less than two months after the end of his sophomore season, Jesuit right-hander Spencer Trayner has committed to the University of North Carolina, calling it "above and beyond" any other program he has visited. A lanky (6-foot-1, 150 pounds) go-to starter, Trayner (6-3, 1.74 ERA) struck out 54 and walked only 16 in 56.1 innings this past season. Offensively, he hit .342 with 12 RBIs in 131 plate appearances for the Tigers, who reached the Class 4A state title game.
