Once upon a time, any college program that wanted a point guard to steer it to the top had to make the New York City area a prime destination. That's still the case -- but the truly smart and ambitious ones head south first, to Washington, D.C., and its suburbs. It has worked for the last two national champions. Earlier this month, Duke rode Nolan Smith -- raised in Prince George's County, Md. -- to its first NCAA title in nine years. A year earlier, Ty Lawson, from the same Maryland county, followed an ACC player-of-the-year season by leading North Carolina to the championship. (AOL FanHouse)
