Cody Zeller leads Washington to a title

Through all the theatrics, dramatics and controversial calls on both sides, Washington High School’s boys’ basketball team tried its best to stay composed on Saturday night in the Class 3A state championship game. When it was over, junior center Cody Zeller had attained what both of his brothers had achieved, just a year ahead of schedule. Older brothers Luke and Tyler led the Hatchets’ boys basketball team to state titles as seniors in 2005 and 2008, respectively. On Saturday, Cody scored 20 points and tied a state finals record with 26 rebounds in Washington’s 65-62 overtime victory over Gary Wallace. (Evansville Courier & Press)
