Sources: Panthers won't franchise Julius Peppers
Posted Feb 23, 2010
Julius Peppers should know well before the Thursday 4 p.m. deadline if he will have the Panthers franchise tag. Reports say that the Panthers will announce today that Peppers who was franchised last year, made $18.2 million with the tag and bonuses. He will not be offered the tag this year due to the hefty cost, which would pay Peppers a salary of $21.4 million for 16 games.
