Marcus Ginyard provides needed spark for Heels

Early in the first half Sunday, when the old man wearing the No. 1 jersey for UNC jogged onto the hardwood, the energy inside the Smith Center rose. Fifth-year senior Marcus Ginyard, not originally expected to play in the Tar Heels' ACC opener against Virginia Tech, was checking into the game to replace Dexter Strickland. And most of the 20,581 fans in attendance greeted Ginyard's first game action since Dec. 22 with a rousing ovation. (Fayetteville Observer)
