Senior captain Danielle Forword scored the game-winning goal on a penalty corner with 11.7 seconds on the clock Sunday afternoon at Kentner Stadium to give the North Carolina field hockey team a 3-2 win over No. 1 Maryland and hand the Tar Heels the sixth NCAA championship in program history. Maryland, which came into the game undefeated and had beaten Carolina 4-1 on Oct. 24 in Chapel Hill, finished the year at 23-1. (Tar Heel Blue)
