Deon Thompson feels he is ready to lead Tar Heels

Deon Thompson arrived at Carolina as part of the top-ranked recruiting class in the country, along with forwards Brandan Wright and Alex Stepheson and guards Wayne Ellington and Lawson. Now, he appears ready for a breakout season. Thompson is averaging 17.7 points and 8.3 rebounds for the sixth-ranked Tar Heels (3-0), who play 15th-ranked Ohio State (2-0) tonight at 9 in the second semifinal of the 2K Classic at the Garden.
