Performance bonuses pad salaries of coaches in UNC system

Roy Williams had the single largest compensation package of any coach in the UNC system. His 2007 contract, the most recent available, lists an annual base salary of $325,000 plus “supplemental compensation” that, in 2009, was $1.2 million. The university added those payments to his contract because he "forfeited his rights to deferred compensation provided by the University of Kansas," where he coached from 1988 to 2003.
