Syracuse Defeats UConn in a Marathon Game

It was a game that appeared finished, but had only just started. After Syracuse and Connecticut played six overtimes that spanned 3 hours 46 minutes in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament Thursday night, a game with endless overtimes secured a timeless legacy. The No. 6-seeded Orange outlasted the No. 3 Huskies, 127-117, at Madison Square Garden in a test of endurance and adrenaline that will long reverberate in college basketball lore. The game is tied for the second longest in Division I (Cincinnati and Bradley played seven overtimes in 1981).
