Hokies hang with Heels, but fail to notch the upset

Virginia Tech was a few plays away from toppling both No. 7 Duke and No. 2 North Carolina in a week’s time. It failed to beat either, and now its season comes down to another incredibly challenging ACC game at No. 24 Florida State on Sunday. The Hokies aren’t out of the NCAA tournament picture just yet, but Wednesday night’s 86-78 loss to the Tar Heels at Cassell Coliseum makes getting an at-large bid all the more difficult.
