The Tar Heels wore pink uniforms in their game at Maryland, a 77-71 loss. They had ordered the uniforms for the week of Feb.13-22 when they will participate in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Pink Zone campaign. On those dates, teams across the nation are encouraged to wear pink as a way to raise cancer awareness. “We did all this in memory of Kay,” Tar Heels coach Sylvia Hatchell said.
