Gap is wide between Spartans, Tar Heels

When March Madness rolls around, Michigan State coach Tom Izzo somehow hopes to have his young Spartans playing the kind of basketball being displayed right now by top-ranked North Carolina. Given the fact North Carolina already is in midseason form by the way the Tar Heels ran roughshod over Michigan State in their 98-63 stroll through Ford Field on Wednesday night, the 13th-ranked Spartans have a whole lot of growing up to do.
