After losing the season opener to Santa Clara without a suspended Raymond Felton, the Tar Heels had reeled off seven straight victories by an average of nearly 24 points. That included a dominant Maui Invitational championship run, during which Felton sprained his wrist, and he still had his left wrist heavily wrapped for the Tar Heels' visit to Blacksburg.
