Coach Frank McGuire wanted to move away from New York City and their cramped apartment to have more room for his child Frank Jr., who had Cerebral Palsy. He wanted more space for their family, a basketball program, and top-notch medical care for his son’s disability and accompanying medical conditions. UNC ultimately became McGuire's landing spot.
