Rasheed Wallace left North Carolina after his sophomore year. As a pro, Wallace, with his tantrums and rash of technical fouls in Portland, evolved into a so-called N.B.A. bad guy. Tim Duncan, of course, with the squeaky-clean image, is the good guy. Sheed is hot and cold; Timmy is consistently aloof. But both are well liked and well respected by teammates. Yet Wallace and Duncan are quite similar.
