Hero in his hometown

There's no mistaking that Latta is a town that loves its high school basketball, especially the player who has given the town so much of its identity. That's Raymond Felton Jr. "It's a town where everybody loves each other and nobody's hating anybody else," says Felton. "It's a place that I see myself, when I get old, going back to and just relaxing." Latta has returned Felton's embrace. In May, weeks after North Carolina won the national championship and with the city festooned with Tar Heels flags and banners, Felton received the key to the city. Mayor Lenneau Berry hints that another, more substantial honor might come soon.
