Asheville High School star Johnny White to play football at UNC

As expected, Asheville High's Johnny White announced Monday that he will play college football for North Carolina, choosing the Tar Heels over Arkansas and South Carolina. The star running back made his decision public during a press conference inside Asheville's weight room. UNC was the first school to offer White a scholarship. White, a 6-foot, 195-pound rising senior, rushed for 2,184 yards and an area-best 39 touchdowns to earn the 2004 Citizen-Times/All-WNC Player of the Year award. (Asheville Citizen-Times)
