Tar Heels to play Gardner-Webb November 19

Wednesday, August 17, 2005

Gardner-Webb University will open its 2005-2006 basketball season in Chapel Hill against the defending national champion North Carolina Tar Heels on Nov. 19. While the Tar Heels suffered a mass exodus of players to the NBA, coach Rick Scruggs isn’t holding any illusions about the talent his team will face on opening night. “They’re going to be young, but they’ll be young McDonald’s All-Americans,” he joked. “Our guys never flinched last year, so it’ll be interesting to see if they flinch in this situation. It should be quite a night.” (Shelby Star)
