Old Foes: State-UNC is saltiest of local battles


At noon Saturday, North Carolina will play N.C. State for the 95th time. The series dates to 1894, when State bore the name N.C. Agricultural & Mechanical and wore pink and blue uniforms. While other teams devise strategies for reaching the glamour bowls, State and Carolina wrestle for yapping privileges and recruiting leverage. No local rivalry surpasses the breadth and bad breath of State-Carolina. (Winston-Salem Journal)
