Strong defensive effort leads Tar Heels to victory

Ever since last season’s embarrassing 46-16 loss to Utah, the astounding 669 yards allowed in that matchup had hung over North Carolina’s defensive unit like the overcast on a gloomy day. In Saturday’s rematch, the play of this same group once again proved to be the reason for the game’s outcome. But this time, there was cause for celebration.
