Tailback duo ignites UNC's running game
Posted Oct 24, 2005
The cliché is thunder and lightning. The reality for North Carolina's backfield is thunder and ... well, more thunder. It's fitting because tailbacks Ronnie McGill and Barrington Edwards made plenty of noise Saturday against Virginia, combining for 170 rushing yards in the Tar Heels' 7-5 victory at Kenan Stadium. "I'm supposed to be thunder, and he's supposed to be lightning. But clearly my 40 time is a lot faster than his," McGill joked after gaining 118 yards on 23 carries. "We've just got to think of something else for that one."
