Close play costs Duke a possible win

Before the chain gang hustled on to the field to decide Duke's fate, the Blue Devils were convinced they had landed a knockout blow against North Carolina. With a little more than three minutes remaining and the Devils up four, the Tar Heels went for it on fourth-and-1 from the Duke 31-yard line. Unfortunately for the Devils, the chains were unkind; McGill had churned forward for just enough ground and the first down. Five plays later, he scored the game-winning touchdown from 3-yards out and UNC beat Duke 24-21.
