The big one in the Big Easy was pretty hard. The 1982 Tar Heels were No. 1 in the country for all but five weeks of the season, but that doesn’t mean anything unless you won the games you had to win. Over that season, Carolina – with James Worthy, Sam Perkins, Michael Jordan, Jimmy Black, and Matt Doherty – survived some very tough encounters.
