Mike Mason out as UNC receiver

Mike Mason longed for a breakout season at North Carolina, but something always seemed to keep the former Rocky Mount standout on the cusp of big things, but no better. On Thursday, Mason slipped backwards completely. Two months after saying Mason has "grown tremendously in this program," UNC football coach John Bunting dismissed the junior from the team permanently Thursday for violating unspecified team rules.
