Ex-UNC coach no longer feeling blue

Friday, December 16, 2005

"I wanted to come back as a better leader, a better manager," former UNC coach Matt Doherty says. "I felt comfortable with my X and O skills, the technical side of the game. But I think the science that I needed to improve was the art of coaching. The chemistry, the communication, the delegation, all those types of things. The weird thing in athletics is that there's no formal training for that," he says, "where in the business world, there's formal training." (USA Today)
