Big Test: Will Heels continue late surge?


As the ACC Tournament opens this afternoon, nobody can say for sure whether North Carolina and Duke just passed a historic milepost that will become evident to everybody else in a winter or two, but it sure smells that way. After the Tar Heels won at Duke 83-76 last Saturday night, the outcome and certain demographics suggested that Carolina could control the next extended phase of the perpetual scrimmage. This tournament will provide the first major stage for testing the fresh premise. (Winston-Salem Journal)
