Real season begins Friday

The Tar Heels' confidence and execution on the court improved so significantly that they were blowing out ACC opponents in the final games of the year. The victory at Duke was like passing the final exam with an A-plus. But when the ACC Tournament rolled around, just enough slippage occurred across the board that they struggled with Virginia in the quarterfinals and then dropped a three-point game to Boston College in the semis.
